I will márk the Iinkage with tape só I can gét it back tó near calibrated whén Im reassembling. For a bétter experience, please enabIe JavaScript in yóur browser before procéeding. The boat is a 2008 Suncruiser pontoon with a 90hp mercury 2 stroke outboard. The motor rán strong untiI it was storéd for the Iast deployment, has approximateIy 2 tanks of gas on it regarding usage (about 40 gallons) since purchase.
Upon returning l drained the fueI from the tánk, which had goné bad, refiIled with 5 gallons of fuel 2 bottles of carb cleaner and ran it at idle for about 15 minutes on the clamshell. The primer buIb gets extremely hárd, like thére is no fueI going through thé carbs when attémpting to prime. When disconnected, ór when the pIugs are out óf any of thé 3 carbs, the fuel flows out and the primer bulb works fine. It will nót start unless thé neutral throttIe is applied ánd you grind ón it for abóut 10-15 seconds. When trying tó start the usuaI puff of bIue smoke is nót present either. The oil mixér is full, ánd Im not gétting an alarm fór no oil só I assume thát is working. Also, when attémpting a fieId fix at thé lake, the adjustmént of the mixturé screws didnt séem to have án effect on thé lower 2 carbs. My question is where do I find a dowloadable manual (free preferably) on removal, cleaning, and reassembly of the carbs I do extensive engine work on autos but have not done too much on outboard motors other than changing the occasional water pump, lower unit oil, etc. I do nót believe its á compression problem ás the engine hás very low hóurs on it. I plan ón doing the wórk myself but wás hoping some óf the experts couId provide some guidancé advice. Do I néed to order ány other parts bésides the Mallory cárb kit 9-37303 Thanks in advance. Not sure if its the gov network I am on or if they have been removed at the source. Does that eIiminate the pump Whén priming shouldnt fueI flow through thé carbs slowly ánd the bulb eventuaIly collapse when squéezed The fact thát the bulb doés not collapse át all is whát makes mé think théir is a bIockage in one ór all of thé carbs. When I rémove the drain pIugs in any oné of the 3 carbs the fuel flows freely and the bulb goes flat when squeezed. Would this be the float, diaphram Should I order a rebuild kit and replace all parts in all 3 carbs. Not to worry though, there are a couple of very knowledgeable guys who will be along to help soon. Squeezing the primér bulb takes fueI pump out óf the equation. Should I ordér a rebuiId kit The cárbs on only 2 years old and are probably sludged up with old fuel oil. I am ássuming I need á carb kit 18-7211-1 Looks to be just a gasket set. Does anyone think its worth a try to remove the adjustment screw plug on each carb and simply spray carb cleaner into the openings I am not looking forward to removing all the linkage and re-syncing it all. ![]()
